Following are some of the opportunities and resources the Boston Foundation offers to donors:
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account created by an individual, family or organization. It offers an immediate tax benefit and allows you to make grants over time to your favorite nonprofit organizations. A DAF is an attractive and economical alternative to a private foundation.
The Permanent Fund for Boston supports all of the Boston Foundation’s grantmaking in Greater Boston and gives the Foundation flexible resources needed to respond to the most urgent needs of the day.
The Civic Leadership Fund supports the civic leadership role played by the Boston Foundation in important areas of community life that are crucial to the city and region’s competitiveness.
Planned and Legacy Giving through the Boston Foundation is an excellent way to establish a charitable legacy. It offers many avenues to incorporate charitable giving into your estate planning—and TBF can help you decide which type of gift is right for you.
The Boston Foundation provides Giving + Co-investment Opportunities to leverage charitable dollars and meet mutually agreeable goals. This may mean partnering with the Foundation on a specific grant that has undergone rigorous review by our program staff, or joining the Boston Foundation and other funders on one of our special initiatives, such as Success Boston.
Opening a Company Fund at the Boston Foundation provides you with a simple, flexible and effective way to conduct and manage your business’s giving that is far less time consuming and costly than establishing a corporate foundation.
The Boston Foundation has launched Pledge 1% Boston, part of a global movement of startups and other innovation economy players who are making support of their communities integral to what they do. A thousand companies in more than 30 cities have already pledged 1% to nonprofit causes and programs.
The Philanthropic Initiative (TPI) at the Boston Foundation is an internationally recognized provider of customized philanthropic consulting, pioneered the field of strategic philanthropy and remains a national leader today.
