Additional Resources for Donors

The Boston Foundation works closely with you to meet your philanthropic goals and help you to increase impact through giving.  Following are some of the opportunities and resources the Boston Foundation offers to donors:

Donor Advised Funds operate like a private foundation and allow you to make grant recommendations at your convenience to your favorite charities and, through your fund, you can recommend a grant of $250 or more to any of the nonprofit organizations listed in the Giving Common.

The Permanent Fund for Boston supports all of the Boston Foundation’s grantmaking in Greater Boston and gives the Foundation flexible resources needed to respond to the most urgent needs of the day.

The Civic Leadership Fund supports the civic leadership role played by the Boston Foundation in important areas of community life that are crucial to the city and region’s competitiveness.

Field of Interest Funds support particular areas of community life, such as the arts or education, or specific populations, such as children or the elderly.

A Designated Fund allows donors to earmark dollars for annual contributions to an alma mater, a favorite cultural institution, a place of worship or any other 501 (c)(3) organization in Greater Boston or across the United States.

The Philanthropic Initiative at the Boston Foundation is a leading provider of customized philanthropic advice and counsel to high net worth individuals, families, foundations and corporations nationally and globally.  Its goal is to help clients invest in their values and passions for maximum impact by designing, implementing and evaluating customized philanthropic strategies and programs.
