How to Floss Properly for Healthier Gums

Flossing is crucial for maintaining healthy gums and overall oral hygiene. To floss properly, follow these steps:

  • Choose the right floss: Select either waxed or unwaxed floss based on your preference.
  • Proper length: Cut a piece of floss about 18 inches long.
  • Wrap and hold: Wrap the floss around your middle fingers, leaving an inch or two to work with.
  • Gentle insertion: Slide the floss gently between your teeth without snapping it.
  • Curved motion: Curve the floss into a ā€˜C’ shape against the side of the tooth and gently rub up and down.
