Overview

Mission Statement

We seek to educate about the devastating and everlasting consequence of genocide, to honor and commemorate those who perished in the Shoah, and to promote peaceful coexistence, inclusiveness and cross-cultural interactions.

Background Statement

Organized by a group of volunteers in Needham, Mass in December 2013

Impact Statement

Our local educational activities are managed under EDGE (EDucate GEnerations) Program. The key accomplishments are under the following:
1. Peer-to-peer events managed by our youngest, high-school, college-age volunteers. For example, Wellesley College event about humanitarian work by the Martha and Waitstill Sharp, Righteous of Nations from Wellesley, Mass. (2) Inspiring Speakers Series. For example, two local events with Roald Hoffmann, the Nobel Prize Winner, Professor from Cornell and the Holocaust Survivor from Ukraine. (3) Various Social Media series such as "Current Events", "Righteous of Nations", etc.

Needs Statement

The most pressing need is funding. Every educational program will benefit, given additional funding. We are an all volunteer organization. We hope to be able to hire someone, an intern, at least part-time. At this point 10-15K will make a difference for us.

CEO Statement

RememberUs.org, of course, is not the only organization that teaches about genocides and commemorates victims of the Holocaust. Our work, however, is unique in completing the “last mile”. The “last mile” is a term used in telecommunications and supply chain management to describe the last link to a destination. The last mile is often the most difficult and challenging. At RememberUs.org we are equipped and well positioned to go the “last mile”. We travel directly to the places of atrocities in Ukraine and implement number of our projects directly on locations of massacre. Trough our educational programs, we bring the knowledge from the “last mile” back to the US and disseminate that knowledge in the US, teaching history, promoting peaceful coexistence and inclusiveness.

Board Chair Statement

At this point we rely on individual donations. This is not scalable on a long run. We are searching for support from large foundations, so we can expend our charitable work.

Impact

The Impact tab is a section on the Giving Common added in October 2013; as such the majority of nonprofits have not yet had the chance to complete this voluntary section. The purpose of the Impact section is to ask five deceptively simple questions that require reflection and promote communication about what really matters – results. The goal is to encourage strategic thinking about how a nonprofit will achieve its goals. The following Impact questions are being completed by nonprofits slowly, thoughtfully and at the right time for their respective organizations to ensure the most accurate information possible.

1. What is your organization aiming to accomplish?

--

2. What are your strategies for making this happen?

--

3. What are your organization’s capabilities for doing this?

--

4. How will your organization know if you are making progress?

--

5. What have and haven’t you accomplished so far?

--
